MINUTES OF THE JUNIOR SELECTION COMMITTEE MEETING  HELD ON 17^TH OCTOBER, 2022 AT 3 P.M. AT THE GENERAL SECRETARY’S OFFICE AT “TITLI”, 57, GARIA STATION ROAD, KOLKATA – 700084

Since Sri Sukumar Deb was absent, Sri Akhil Banerjee took the Chair.

Sri Puspendu Dutta, Convenor, Jr. Selection Committee mentioned that Badminton Association of India have introduced Under-11 Years Age Group Nationals.  Hence, apart from selecting U-13/15 Years Age Group Bengal Team, The Selection Committee has to select Under-11 Years Age Group (Mini) Team for Nationals.

Thereafter, he placed before the Selection Committee the Ranking Points of Under-11 Years Age Group Tournaments as well as U-13/15 Years Age Group Ranking Tournaments held this year.

As per the Circular of BAI, eligibility is Two (2) Boys Singles & Two (2) Girls Singles.

After going through the Ranking Points following teams were finalised:

NOTE:          As per norms for getting selected in the Bengal Teams, participation in State Championship is mandatory.  Since in the U-13 & 15 Years Age Group State Championship (Singles & Doubles), Doubles events were not held due to less entries, Members decided that U-13/15 Years Age Group Doubles State Ranking which was held at “Star Badminton Academy”, Harinavi, Kolkata from 14^th to 16^th July, 2022 be considered for selecting the Pairs for forthcoming U-13 & 15 National Championship and the Ranked No. 1 Pairs were selected.

MISC.

The Chairman mentioned that there are lots of talents in Bengal and WBBA should groom the players from the Age Groups of U-9/11 and U-13/15.  His suggestion was that Four (4) Top Ranked players in Singles event and Two (2) Top Ranked Pairs of these Age Groups be indentified and Coaching Camps be held periodically.  Members applauded the suggestion and Hony. General Secretary was requested to finalise this in consultation with Coaching Committee.
